EPIC: Shaped By the Story of Great God, a Grand Mission and a Good Life - Sermons On Line

Epic is a grand tour of the Scriptures. For seven and a half months, ending on Pentecost 2010, the members and friends of SCPC will be invited to a daily reading "journey" through the Bible. The subtitle of this series is "Shaped by the Story of a Great God, a Grand Mission and a Good Life", and the emphasis is on our being "shaped" by this true story into the people that God intended us to be. By the time you finish this tour, you will have read 200 chapters of the Bible, spent time in every book of the Bible and will have experienced the epic story of God's mission to save his beloved creation.

The Reading Plan consists of an assigned chapter from the Bible every day (except Sunday, with some days featuring two chapters). On Sunday, the sermon will be from one of the chapters from the previous week's readings. Sermon notes for individual and group study will feature conversation both on the passage from the sermon as well as some discussion on the reading from the entire week.

Booklets, bookmarks, sermon notes, discussion guides, podcasts of readings, and study helps for individual, group and family discussion will be available throughout the journey. If you are joining us at the very beginning or jumping in along the way, welcome! Join a group, join a discussion, plug into an audio podcast or just start reading. We believe that this could be most soul-shaping experience of your life.

DANCING WITH PURPOSE! - High School Ministry

It's not every day that you see high school students excited to dance. Well, actually that's not true!
However, this dancing was a big different as several of our teens gathered together on a Saturday night just a few weeks ago for our Dare U2 Move Dance-a-Thon and dance for a cause. What cause? Whatever their heart desired! For some it was invisible children, for others it was Angels on the Move. No matter the organization, the focus was the same - to raise funds and impact the Kingdom of God.
They danced and roller skated their way through the night raising several hundred dollars for multiple organizations, both local and global.
Thanks to those of you who assisted in these high schoolers efforts! All praise to Him!

BAJA HOUSE BUILD UPDATE - Short Term Mission Opportunities - CPT Circle

On Sunday, February 23, twenty-five SCPC missionaries serving at Lo Mejor del Trigo, enjoyed an incredible worship service and the loving gratitude of the congregation. Hugs proliferated, tears flowed, smiles spread on all face. No one wanted to part from the new family members in Christ.
Arrival on Friday: Our caravan of trucks navigated rough dirt road complete with deep trenches, rocks and abandoned vehicles and reached our home build destination. Makeshift dirt hillside 'steps' lead us to the awaiting cement slab foundation. Our crew (including Nicolas - the family's father - and his son 10 year son, Jose-Luis) worked tirelessly Friday afternoon to complete the frame and painting.Saturday provided added challenges after rain on Friday night filling the road to and from the construction site with mud. God and 4-wheel drives prevailed! Air compressor trouble threatened to ruin the day. Sensing Spiritual interference, roofing crew members prayed - a familiar hum delighted everyone; the roof was completed that day.Sunday Morning: We presented the keys and gifts to a loving family or eight and departed with much more than we had given.

Would you like to join us on an adventure of a lifetime? All willing hearts are welcome! No experience necessary!
Please contact Kelly King at 949.492.6158, X34 for more information.

Beth Moore’s newest Bible Study is Esther. The Old Testament story of Esther is a profile in courage, and contains many modern parallels for today’s women. Esther’s destiny can be yours as you know more deeply the God who is in your corner.

Genesis is a book of “beginnings”. Many of the themes of Scripture have their origins in the book of Genesis. It is a foundation book. To study it gives us a good start into understanding the rest of the Scripture and its purpose.
This is a multigenerational Women's Bible Study, September 17, 2009 - June 3, 2010 at 9 - 11 AM. The teaching leader for this study is Pastor Dee Hazen and there is a fee of $15 for study materials.

A friendly group of cyclists, both 'serious' (100+ miles/week) and 'not so serious' (20-50 miles/week), who enjoy a great ride twice a week, while also having a really good time of fellowship. Although the group might seem to consist of some 'older guys', no effort is ever made to restrict participation by age or gender. Every ride promises to exercise your legs, feed your stomach, stretch your mind and expand your heart.

Want to make some friends, get more connected to SCPC and enjoy some good rides?

BAJA MEXICO SHOE MISSION - Short Term Mission Opportunities - CPT Circle

BAJA MEXICO SHOE MISSION
January 29-31, 2010
Missionaries Don & Bev Glasgow, Dean Monahan & Greg Johnson.
Friday, January 29, we journeyed to the “Lo Mejor del Trigo” church in El Niño, Mexico. Upon arrival, the team sorted the collection of 2,000 slightly worn shoes, 100 bags of clothing, stuffed animals and other useful household items. The next day over 300 local needy family members arrived to make choices then return to their homes with many much needed basic necessities.
The mission team watched with great pride and emotion as this amazing experience came to a conclusion right in front of our eyes. This mission changed a huge number of hearts, all for the good. The needy loved what we did and were very appreciative with hugs and thanks all around.
Saturday stop one. The mission team visited a Medical Clinic that is only open periodically during the month at a school facility. It is staffed with volunteer doctors and medical assistants. We helped set up the facility then had to leave.
Saturday stop two. We visited and toured the Compamento de Fe Hospice. (see Hearts Helping Hearts) We prayed with patients and talked to the leaders. Don gathered notes as to their ongoing supply need ideas. That visit has led to the birth of the “Hearts Helping Hearts” theme for ongoing humanitarian work in Mexico.
Saturday stop three. We visited a special orphanage for approximately 33 children. We toured the facility then went to work doing construction on a new facility for approximately 25 orphaned babies.
Sunday morning was devoted to visiting and reconnecting to prior Baja Home Build families to see how they were doing and give added support. That was followed by a worship service led by Pastor Daniel Nunez. Then back to San Clemente.
Respectfully submitted by Don Glasgow of the Mexico Shoes Mission Team.

The Third Man Factor by John Geiger (#155.9 OCPL).
This book proves that truth is often stranger than fiction. This is a collection of stories of mountaineers, and explorers who sensed an encouraging person helping them when their very survival was in danger. Are these guarding angels? Some mental phenomena? Join us for a lively discussion.
Please contact Mary Ann Whittier with any questions.
