Child Sponsorship - Y-Malawi?

SCPC has committed to be part of the Y-Malawi Partnership with nine other churches, World Vision, Opportunity International, the Nkhoma Synod Presbyterian Youth Department, the Evangelical Association of Malawi and Fishers, Trainers and Senders Ministry of Malawi.

As part of this partnership we will be regularly sending teams to Malawi to partner with these ministries in sharing the love and care of Jesus Christ in a beautiful land of beautiful people who are feeling the tragic effects of poverty, disease and AIDS.

As part of our commitment to this partnership, we are asking every family in our church to prayerfully consider becoming a World Vision Child Sponsor for one child in Nkhoma Area Development Project (ADP) in central Malawi.

The cost of the child sponsorship is $35/month. Your child sponsorship helps provide clean water, nutritious food, health care, AIDs prevention training, care for the sick and dying parents, educational opportunities, Spiritual nurture, HIV/AIDS counseling and general wholistic support for the Nkhoma Area of Malawi.

For more information about our Y-Malawi partnership, please visit www.y-malawi.com

For more information about child sponsorship, please contact Kelly King or 492.6158 X34.

Every now and then--even if you aren't a regular church goer--you may find yourself needing a pastor. Maybe you are in a personal moment of need, find yourself hospitalized, or in the middle of a unexpected set of circumstance. Maybe you have a troubling spiritual concern, maybe a nagging question of the soul. Need a pastor? One of our team would be glad to sit down and offer a caring heart and a listening ear. Contact Sue Haffely in the church office and she'll make sure that one of the pastors contacts you very soon.

Children are a gift from God; they are His reward. Psalm 127:3

OUR PHILOSOPHY Children learn and develop best in a safe, loving and nurturing environment. At SCPC Preschool, each child comes to know that they are a precious gift from God. We provide an excellent educational experience and a Christian atmosphere while meeting the developmental needs of the children.

PROGRAM Our program provides a curriculum for all learning domains and is designed to meet the developmental needs of the whole child (aesthetic, affective, cognitive, language, physical, social and spiritual). We are developmentally appropriate. Developmental appropriateness is defined in two parts: a) age appropriateness, or the universal, predictable sequences of growth and change that occur in children as they go through their early years of life, and b) individual appropriateness or the unique growth sequence of each child with their own pattern and timing, as well as individual personality, learning style and family background experiences.

Preschool children learn mainly through active "hands-on" participation. We provide many opportunities for children to learn through class instruction and personal discovery. Preschool teachers utilize children's group activities, small-group lessons, one-on-one instruction and free play to promote social awareness, personal responsibility, autonomy, language development and pre-reading, scientific and mathematical concepts.

We provide a safe, supportive, loving and nurturing environment. We understand that a child's basic needs must be met before learning can occur. By using a guidance approach, children will learn while having fun, develop positive self-esteem and build a foundation of fundamental life skills. A child's learning develops through responsive adults, active hands-on participation and meaningful experiences.

The teacher's role is to:
• Be educated in early childhood development
• Enhance children's development and learning
• Plan curriculum that encourages the children to explore, create and problem solve
• Assess each child's development and build positive, supportive relationships with each child and their family
• Be a positive role model

We are licensed by the State of California, and we refer to NAEYC's standards when making decisions regarding our program.PROGRAMS AVAILABLE

We are delighted that you are visiting the San Clemente Presbyterian Church website. We are a caring, multi-generational fellowship with lots and lots of kids and youth, growing families and active adults. You will find that our church is a safe place to grow in your spiritual journey, to find support in raising your family and offers you a genuinely caring Community.

Won't you consider joining us at one of our three Sunday services? We meet at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 for worship. While the message is the same at each service, each one is slightly different and offers something for everybody.

Our popular Big Wednesday program for the whole family returns in the fall. Watch for more details on this website. And if you'd like to get some daily assistance with your spiritual life, please check out my daily weblog.

We are blessed to have a number of Marine families call this church home. But in addition, we try to reach out to every Marine that needs a family and a "home away from home." We have a thriving ministry that welcomes home deployed Marines of the 1st CEB, we serve a Thanksgiving meal each year, throw baby showers for expectant Marine wives, gather gifts for Christmas - generally help out where ever we can!

Welcome to our High School Ministry - High School Ministry

There are two aspects of the High School Ministry which happen on Big Wednesday alternating every other week from 7:30 - 9 PM

REFUGE
This is our large "youth group" gathering where anything goes - well, almost anything. If you're looking for a place where you can explore your faith while connecting with other students in your community, then we encourage you to check us out. Through biblical discussion, authentic conversation, and thoughtful worship, we hope you can encounter God in a very real and personal way.

Small Groups
Small groups are just that, small group gatherings, divided by grade and gender, which meet alternating Wednesdays. Each group is led by an adult member of our church and you can join anytime. Please contact Brieann for more info about how to get involoved.
(All leaders who interact with high school students have been interviewed, trained, and background checked)

For more information on any high school program and upcoming events, contact Brieann Glass at brieann@scpres.org or 949.492.6158 X33.

Welcome to The Well - College/ Young Adult Ministry - The Well

Sunday Night 6 - 8 PM
In biblical times, the Well was a place not only to gather water (necessary for survival), but it was also a place for people to connect and even if only for a brief moment disconnect from the stress of everyday life. It was the ancient world's "water cooler"...the Well today is designed to serve the same purpose.

We meet every Sunday night in a home from 6-8 PM. We worship, fellowship, & challenge ourselves with Biblical teaching and life application . We are currently in a study on the book of Galatians. Come find out what it is to know the freedom of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We would love to have you join us on any given Sunday evening. If you would like a ride or just someone to walk in the door with, contact me lniebaum@scpres.org. Check us out on FACEBOOK, group name The Well. Or just show up! Address of meeting place (Nesper's home): 1222 Llano San Clemente CA 97673See you at the Well!
