Middle School Ministry Coordinator

  • MISSION: to inspire students to become wholehearted (and lifelong) followers of Christ.

    This position requires close collaboration with other departments at the church, especially High School Ministry and Kids & Family Life. The ideal candidate for this position will be someone who is relational, enthusiastic, and passionate about seeing middle school students know, love, and reflect Jesus.

    ACCOUNTABLE/RELATIONSHIPS

    Reports to the Director of Kids & Family Life, including an annual job performance review.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Demonstrates a mature Christian faith and interest in sharing in the ministry of San Clemente Presbyterian Church

    • Ability to develop leaders who will grow followers of Jesus

    • Ability to organize, develop, and teach curriculum for small groups and large groups

    • Ability to communicate and work with diverse personalities and age ranges

    • A.A/A.S. required, B.A./B.S. preferred

    • Two years experience working with youth

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversee the execution of the entire Middle School Ministry, 6th-8th grades

    • Develop curriculum, projects, and experiences for Sunday morning and mid-week programs

    • Recruit, nurture, shepherd and oversee a team of volunteers that lead small groups and engage in weekly programs and events

    • Work with the Family Ministries team to create service opportunities in Missions, community outreach, camps and retreats, and other intentional activities

    • Monitor budgets for all Middle School Ministry

    • Administrative responsibilities (ie: communication, paperwork, marketing, etc.)

    • Develop a collaborative ministry experience for Confirmation (aprox. every other year)

    • Work with SC Pres Kids and High School leaders to bring consistency to Family Ministry mission, vision, and values

    • Pursue collaboration and support with other local community partnerships

    TIME COMMITMENTS

    • Mid-week evening program (including large group and small group programming)

    • Sunday morning Middle School/Student Ministries Program

    • Weekly all-SCPC staff meetings (Tuesday mornings)

    • Special events: camps, retreats, service trips, off-campus activities

    • Up to $35,000-$40,000/year, 25-30 hours/week on-site with an adaptable schedule.
